January Special:
How To Avoid The Problems so often associated
with "The Christmas Season:"
Many people, including
many Christians, overspent their incomes during the month of December. Even
though the retailers reported a "slow" December, what they mean by that is that
consumers did not go into debt as deeply as the retailers would have liked. Is
this unavoidable? Is the solution simply for us to ignore the commercial aspects
of Christmas and instead make a concerted effort in our society to "put Christ
back in Christmas?"
Numerous Christians regard Christmas, so-called, as the
"high holy day" of the Christian calendar. Other Christians have a view not
far different from that of Ebenezer Scrooge's "Bah! Humbug!" What does the
Bible actually say about holy days and human traditions? Is there nothing of
value in Christmas? Is it totally pagan, as some charge? If there is
something of value, how do we avoid accepting the bad along with the good?
Here is Dr. Bacon's balanced and biblical assessment of what can,
admittedly, be a very emotional and evocative subject. May the Lord bless
your study as you listen along with us to what the Bible has to say about
these perilous times for our finances.
