Discussion of George Gillespie's Wholesome Severity Reconciled with Christian Liberty

What we've done about it
Subject: What we've done about it

To the list: file this under Administrivia if you wish.

1. I repeat my earlier apologies and Chris' for the fact that
you received the sexual solicitation via Westminster Forum. We
initiated the forum and thus we have a responsibility to do all
that we can to prevent such things from happening. We had not
done *all* we could and thus we are culpable.

2. Chris Coldwell has now closed the relatively easy means by
which the spam made its way onto the list. IOW, we have now
done all we can from our side to assure it will not happen again.
In the future, only subscribers will be able to post to WF. Or
so our kindly software author assures us.

3. A kind and experienced veteran of the spam wars volunteered
to chase the source down for us. We seem to have found the
responsible party (whether he originated the post or simply
mailed it) and will be having a discussion with him in the near
future. It does not appear that he has broken any laws (though
whether there *should* be such a law is something of the subject
of this forum right now, no?).

4. If something like this should happen in the future (and we
all hope it won't and have done what we can to prevent it), please
do *NOT* respond to the list. You may bring it to my attention
or to Chris' attention, but please do not perpetuate a thread on
the list. It merely aggravates the problem without solving any
thing.

5. It turns out that in a truly moderated list, all posts must
go through the moderator (which explains why John Butler never
had this problem). That is not the kind of list we have, so it
turns out that not only am I not your mother, neither am I your
moderator! I have been politely informed that what I am doing is
called "list owner" in internetese. Still, "I'm your list-owner,
not your mother" doesn't have quite the ring to it. . . .

I may not be your moderator after all, but I know I'm
not your mother.
