This is surely drifting far off topic, but would you apply the same
standards to Newt and his pals on the Republican side of the aisle?
Or the venerable George Herbert Walker Bush and friends? This kind
of single-sided attack on the sitting president while pretending that
the members of the other party are NOT into the same monkey business is
absolutely ludicrous - it really gets my goat.

I'm not taking any sides here, because I'm sure that Democrats in 73
were equally guilty of actions as offensive those as Nixon and his
cronies at Watergate. I just think that if one is to suddenly call
for squeaky clean ethics among our politicians, one should look at
BOTH sides with the same lens. Otherwise we look as ethically skewed
as the objects of our derision (and rightfully so), which is not
something I think we want as Christians.

Indeed - all glory and honor be to the Father.

Absolutely - as long as we don't shirk from calling for justice in the
case of "our" party as well. I don't hear much of that from my more
politically active friends in the church.

Peace,
